Split Decision

This quilt design was inspired by an Art Deco textile pattern and has been adapted by me as a quilt design. The quilt is split down the middle so the two sides could be switched with each other or one could be rotated 180 degrees for increased visual interest. Hence the name - Split Decision. It can be split and you can decide the final layout. Students are provided a full sized pattern of all curved pieces before class. Fabric pieces must be cut out before coming to class. Construction of the quilt top begins at the start of the class. Tips are given to make curved piecing very easy. Students must be able to cut accurately with a rotary cutter and also sew a concise scant 1/4" seam.

Stars Over St. Louis

The quilt consists of two blocks ….. one with stars and chains, and the second one is for the most part of solid block with some corner piecing. What makes this quilt so stunning is the way the solid block changes color depending on where it falls in the quilt. This is a very exciting one to piece, a very dramatic looking quilt. This comes in several sizes.

The Farmers Wife Club

I am sure many of you have heard of "The Farmers Wife Sampler Quilt" by Laurie Aaron Hird. I first encountered Laurie Hird and her book at spring market in 2010. It's a book of letter excerpts & quilt blocks. At this time there are many groups of quilters challenging each other to make these blocks which are the foundation and history of our craft" Since I was physically and mentally unable to start our block of the month club I have decided to start a Farmers Wife Quilt Club. We will be meeting at 9:00 am on the first Saturday of the month. Our first meeting will be Jan. 7 at Morning Star 9:00 am. Please call and let us know if you are interested. You will be choosing your own color way to make your blocks. There is no fee to the club if you purchase The Farmer's Wife book from Morning Star Quilts . Our first meeting will be a very informational meeting. We will be looking at different color ways and options for your quilts. I plan on making my blocks out of Japanese taupe's utilizing my scraps and adding in new as i need to. I have seen the blocks made from Kaffe, Batiks, Brights, Civil war, Japanese taupe's and many more. So I hope you are ready to discover The Farmers Wife. Call or email Marsha with questions and to get information on cost.
