What a summer this has been! I usually love summer and want it to last forever, not this year. We are praying for buckets of rain and lots of snow in the mountains. Our hearts are broken for all the homes that were lost in our area. We have been trying to help in any way we can. Our customers were extremely generous when we asked for donations from your stashes. Thank you very much! Many of you have asked what you can do to show your thanks to the firefighters. I talked with the Fire Chief and asked what an immediate need was for the firefighters. We really wanted our donation to help with the safety of our firefighters here in town. So we are going to be raising money to buy new fire shelters for the firefighters (OSHA says their old ones aren’t good enough anymore, I think). On September 12 and 13 we will be having a silent quilt auction. The quilts will be displayed around the front porch of the store. If anyone is interested in donating a quilt for auction please let me know. We will be barbecuing hot dogs from 11a.m. to 2p.m. This is also River Run Shop Hop, so Morning Star will be a busy place Sept. 12 and 13.
Another date to mark on your calendars is August 16 and 17. The Ridge Quilters Guild is having their 30th Anniversary Quilt Show. Come show your support and love of quilting.
August 23rd is our Christmas in August day. Come on in and see all our Christmas quilts and kits.
Lots of new fabric has been arriving. Our batik section keeps growing and there is still more coming. Love those batiks. We have some great Halloween fabric with kits to match. Heather Bailey’s new line arrived last week – it’s beautiful. The girls have also started making our own jelly rolls. They are available in batiks and Kaffe Fassett right now with more to follow. We will also be making charm squares and layer cakes. There are some great new juvenile lines in Nuts and Bolts from P & B, and Dinosaur Uproar from Moda. Old fashioned line – Cottage Romance from Maywood just arrived also. All the fabric that we ordered at Spring Market will be coming in August – November. Can’t wait!
The new class schedule is attached. We have some great new classes for you as well as new beginner classes. The samples are on display in the classroom and there are pictures on the web page. As new class samples arrive the web page will be updated.

**Morning Star Quilts Class Policy***
Class sign ups will only be accepted when accompanied by full payment. You may register at the shop or by phone. You will be given a supply list at the time of registration. A ONE TIME 20% discount will be given for class material with your paid registration. Store credit will be given if you notify the store of your need to cancel at least (5) five days prior to the scheduled class date. No refunds or credits will be given if the 5 day notice requirement is not met. If Morning Star Quilts must cancel a class, we will issue a full refund.

DESIGN WORKSHOP
Bring your pieced tops to this informative class and learn how to choose the perfect quilting design. OPEN THREAD BAR
This is a “one-of-a-kind” two-day workshop where you will be treated to an “Open Thread Bar”. Cindy will teach you all about quilting with specialty threads. You will design a small whole-cloth quilt using her stencil stash and have a large variety of her threads at your disposal for machine quilting. This is your chance to learn how to design a whole cloth quilt and have fun trying new threads in the process.

Depending on the values you use, other designs may come forward than what you see. It truly is a great quilt.
